Ethan can say about 50 words now and said Jas for Jasmine for the first time this morning. Jasmine only says Mama but makes herself understood so well with points, screams and babbling talk! She says ‘dis’ and ‘dat’ a lot fro objects and likes to point to things in books wanting me or Daddy to say them. If I ask ‘Can you point to a teddy?’ they both can, and if I ask ‘Is there one more?’ they can both find anther one. Ethan says pawberry to mean strawberry, so cute.
Our most fun Christmas yet! The boddlers are such good fun and so lively at the moment. They ripped open their presents and went crazy with the drum from Uncle David and loved the Duplo train from their grandparents. Ethan’s language acquisition is developing fast- he can say around 20 words now. Jasmine communicates with lots of oohs and aahs and very expressive intonation. They both make themselves understood very well!
Jasmine got her first shoes 2 weeks ago, they are magenta with flowers on and a velcro strap across them which she loves to play with! Today was the babies’ second Halloween. Jasmine was attired in a rather fetching pumpkin dress when children came to the door in their rather scary costumes.
Ethan is so active! From crawling at 7 months to walking at 12 months, he is developing at a rate of knots. NOw, at 14 months we have had him fitted for his first shoes!! We went to Clarks where his darling feet were measured by a very experienced-looking lady. He is size 2F which is the smallest size available for shoes-in fact they are called ‘cruisers’ which have softer soles that regular shoes. They are blue with velcro straps-lovely.
Jasmine has also started walking, unlike Ethan who pretty much got up and walked , after a few stuttery steps, Jasmine likes to hold Mummy’s hands and practice walking. She also gets very excited when she can go around the house gathering up socks, bibs and toys and then can still manage to walk a short way with these in her hands. Clever girl!
We had a lovely five days staying in a holiday cottage in Yoxford, near Southwold. Our cottage was a converted barn on an ex-farm and we had chickens walking by our front door. It took us an age to pack the car and Daddy did a great job. We decided to take the high-chairs which took up a lot of space in the roof box. It was good to have a change of scenery-the babies enjoyed walking by the beach in Southwold and going to the park. We met up with our friends Becky, David, Edith and Edwyn as they were also on holiday in the area and we had a nice playtime one afternoon.
Jasmine has had an eruption of teeth at 13 months old, her bottom two came through first, then she got four at the top almost at the same time and I can see lots more just waiting to come down from her gums.
The incredible Jasmine and Ethan are now one year old. Daddy and I can hardly believe it. They are very lucky as they had three birthday parties to celebrate this event.
The babies and Mummy came to see me at work. My colleagues oohed and aahed and said how cute Jasmine and Ethan are. We then drove to Maldon and had dinner looking out over the estuary. The babies were so well behaved although Mummy had to shake Ethan’s chair upside down(without him in it!!) after eating as he was so messy.
We have had a few really hot days-once up to 31 degrees-apparently the first of July was the hottest July day on record! So, I got the new paddling pool out-it’s the babies’ birthday present but they need it now!! Jasmine liked to crawl out of the pool after 5 minutes to pick clover in the lawn! Ethan enjoyed sucking the water out of his bath toys. I battled to keep the thunderbugs off the babies as they were attracted to the bright green pool-they seem to be attracted to green and yellow as when I wore a yellow t-shirt I was covered in seconds!
Ethan has four teeth now and Jasmine has cut her first last week! It means that Ethan can break food up more easily than J
asmine and so he enjoys fat breadsticks whereas Jasmine gets the thin ones!
